Desperate and looking for love, Anna (AFI award-winner Bojana Novakovic, recent star of Fox series RAKE and Showtime's SHAMELESS) is a woman at a karaoke bar waiting for a date she matched with online. Each night, her date is a different guest performer (male or female) whose identity is unknown to her until the moment of performance. There is no script. All dialogue is created on the spot by the performers, and directions are sent via text messages and phone calls by the director. The ending is undefined, so what happens is entirely up in the air. This is an untethered night of theatre (and karaoke) set in a real bar where anything can—and does—happen. No two shows are ever the same.
Having completed sold-out runs in New York City, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, New Zealand, and Cincinnati, the show is currently playing in Los Angeles on a weekly basis.
Past guests include Jason Alexander, Margot Robbie, Laverne Cox, Joel Edgerton, and many more.
A clever show... There’s something sneakily appealing in the prospect of watching other people navigate the jittery horrors of that initial encounter, a grueling rite of passage pretty much everyone has endured, and often regretted.
- The New York Times
It's like witnessing magic. Raw, genuine emotional. Two performers creating something beautiful together on-the-spot and in-the-moment. A glimpse of something honest and real and beautiful. A unique theatrical experience not to be missed.
